Jatiya Mukti Council
A rally organised by Jatiya Mukti Council was held in front of Jatiya Press Club in the city on Sunday. In the rally the speakers demanded fair probe in to the brutal police attack on unemployed nurses when the staged peaceful demonstration to meet its demands. They also demanded trial of those who were involved in the attack. The programme was addressed, among others, by former President of Ganotantrik Jubo Forum Michael Chakma, General Secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra Federation Faisal Mahmud, Leader of Bangladesh Trade Union Federation Abdus Sattar, Hemanta Das of Muktir Mancha Sangathan and President of Hill Women Federation Nirupa Chakma. General Secretary of Jatiya Mukti Council Faizul Hakim presided over the function.
Gurdwara management committee
In the name of extending cooperation to Gurdwara Management Committee Bangladesh S. Bhupinder Pal Singh and Jaspal Sing tried to deceive the executive committee President Principal Sukomal Barua of Gurdwara Management Committee Bangladesh, it is alleged. Recently they made contact with the Gurdwara Mnagement Committee President Principal Sukomal Barua with the assurance that they would arrange financial assistance if Barua would give the power of attorney of the management committee to them in order to arrange financial assistance. Under the circumstances, Principal Barua told it to the other executive members of the committee and later the committee decided to take legal action against the two persons responsible for the evil motive of them .Gurdwara Management Committee Bangladesh is assigned to be a central and supreme committee of all Gurdwaras or Sikh religious temples established in Bangladesh to run all activities . The management committee is run by the Bangladeshi citizen as there is no Sikh inhabitant in Bangladesh. It is mentionable that once there were at least 35 Sikh temples remained in the country but now only 11 temples are in existence here.
