Dhaka WASA’s successes
Dr. Isher Judge Ahluwalia, renowned Indian economist, writer, columnist, Chairperson of Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER), Delhi and also the former chairperson of the high-powered expert Committee on Urban Infrastructure and Services wrote an article headlined, “Ripples of Reform in Dhaka” on the renowned daily Indian Express on 27 June, 2018. The article heading also said, `Bangladesh capital’s transformation of the water services sector that connects the urban poor to the piped network, has lessons for cities in India.’ Dr. Isher praised Dhaka WASA and its leadership. At the same time she compared various Indian cities, which lack required water supply services, to Dhaka and said that there were lessons from Dhaka for cities in India.
BUBT English Language Lab Inauguration
Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) inaugurated its first English Language Lab in the Department of English on Saturday, June 30, 2018 to develop the English language proficiency of graduate and undergraduate students of the University.
The language lab was inaugurated by Prof. Md. Abu Saleh, Vice Chancellor of BUBT, in the presence of Dr. Gauranga Chandra Mohanta ndc, Project Director (Additional Secretary), Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP), UGC, Prof. Md. Enayet Hossain Miah, Tresurer, Prof. Syed Anwarul Huq, Dean, Faculty of Arts & Humanities, Prof. Santi Narayan Ghosh, Director, IQAC, BUBT, Prof. A. B. Md. Badruddoza Mia, Controller of Examinations, Mr. Mohammad Shawkat Ali, Associate Professor & Chairman, Dept. of English, BUBT, Mr. Mohammad Masudur Rahman, Director, Career Guidance, BUBT. On the occasion, Department of English, BUBT organized a workshop on “The Lesson Plan for BUBT Language Lab” at the University’s International Conference Hall, Rupnagar, Dhaka. In the program, certificates among workshop attendees were distributed. A prize giving ceremony of English Club was also held. The inauguration of language lab will allow students to have interactive sessions. It will provide equal opportunity to all the students to hear the instructor irrespective of place where they are seated. There will be less miscommunication because of direct nature of the sound transmission. Prof. Syed Anwarul Huq, Dean, Faculty of Arts & Humanities was the keynote speaker of the workshop.
