Green University of Bangladesh
The green tigers of Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) have won the “DIU Inter University T20 Cricket Tournament” on June 3, 2016, in the permanent campus of DIU in Asulia. The GUB cricket team beats DIU in the final match by eight wickets. Sumon of GUB got the man of the match award, while Linkon of DIU was awarded as the man of the tournament and best batsman. The chorus of the wining team “Everybody knows Green University is a champion” was a leading eye pleasure for the whole gathering. ULAB and International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) jointly got the Fair Play Trophy of “DIU Inter University T20 Cricket Tournament 2016”. Dr. Shri Biren Sikder, State Minister, Ministry of Youth and Sports was present at the closing and prize distribution ceremony of tournament as Chief Guest while Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University presided over the ceremony. Prof Dr. Yousuf M. Islam, VC of DIU and the Treasurer of Green University of Bangladesh Md. Shahid Ullah were also present in the presentation ceremony. A total of ten universities participated in this tournament, says a press release.

University has to be developed as knowledge incubator to produce quality graduates in keeping pace with today’s world. Univewrsities will create new knowledge and store and disseminate it. Teachers should be more dedicated in teaching profession to enhance the quality education, this was observed by UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan. He made the observation while speaking as the Chief Guest at a workshop on “Progress and Achievement of IQAC (Round 1 Universities)” at UGC auditorium on Thursday. . Prof Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed, Head of Quality Assurance Unit, UGC delivered the welcome address. Dr. Md. Mokhlesur Rahman, Senior Operations Officer, World Bank was the special guest . Dr. Gauranga Chandra Mohanta, ndc, Project Director, Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project presided over the workshop. Terming the country’s huge young population as an asset, UGC Chairman observed that Bangladesh will be able to hold its head high to the global community if the youthforce could be equipped with updated knowledge and skills by imparting quality education. Directors and Additonal Directors from Institutional Quality Assurance Cell of thirteen universities and selected members of Self Assesment Committee from those universities participated in the workshop. Progress, achievements, challenges and difficulties faced by IQAC were discussed, says a press release.
