Imarat Nirman Sramik Union Bangladesh
A discussion organised by Imarat Nirman Sramik Union Bangladesh (INSUB) on its 26th founding anniversary was held at Swadhinata Hall of Dhaka Reporters Unity in the city’s Segunbagicha on Sunday. In the programme the speakers urged the concerned authority to take necessary steps for introducing rationing system, pension scheme for the social safety of labour class people. They also demanded to form separate unit in hospitals for the free treatment of labourers. The function was addressed, among others, by Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon, President of Bangladesh Trade Union Kendra Shahidullah Chowdhury, General Secretary of INSUB Abdur Razzak and President of Jatiya Sramik Federation Kamrul Ahsan. President of the organisation Rabiul Islam presided over the event.
Ladies Organisation for Social Welfare
A prize giving ceremony for meritorious students organised by Ladies Organisation for Social Welfare (LOFS) in association with Children Education and Awareness Programme and Bangladesh NGO Foundation was held at LOFS office in Rajshahi. Speakers in the function held recently underscored the need for ensuring the right to education for the poor and underprivileged communities to build an educated and prosperous nation. On the occasion, 32 underprivileged meritorious students, who obtained brilliant results in PEC, JSC and annual examinations in 2017 from different educational institutions in Rajshahi were awarded prizes. The speakers viewed that access to education for all has become an urgent need for overall development of the country. Collective efforts of all government and non-government organisations concerned are essential in this regard. Besides, the government, rich people of the society and financial institutions should come forward for providing education support to the underprivileged students. The function was addressed, among others, by Deputy Director of Department of Social Services Rashedul Kabir and Editor of Daily Sonar Desh Akbarul Hassan Millat. LOFS Executive Director Shahnaz Parveen Lucky presided over the event.
