Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote
A discussion on ‘Amar Ekushey: The Present Context and Politics’ organised by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote was held at the Jatiya Press Club on Thursday. Awami League Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest in the programme. While speaking Hasan called upon BNP to stop spreading confusions among the people over the conviction of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case. He said if BNP again boycotts the next parliament election, it will be a suicidal decision for the party. Hasan said it is crystal clear that the money of Zia Orphanage Trust was withdrawn through Khaleda Zia’s signature. The function was also addressed, among others, by former lawmaker and actress Sarah Begum Kabari, General Secretary of the jote Arun Sarker Rana, its Vice-President Sheikh Md Jahangir Alam and freedom fighter Mobarak Ali Shikder. Adviser of the organisation Lion Chittaranjan Das presided over the event.
Muktijoddha Santan Command
A rally organised by Muktijoddha Santan Command was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club. In the programme held recently Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan was present as the chief guest. While speaking Shajahan said people from all walks of life should be united to bring Awami League in power again as the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is advancing the country towards development. “The AL led government is taking the country towards development by trying anti-liberation forces and war criminals, so we should bring the party back to the power to keep the pace of development uninterrupted,” he added. The minister said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has introduced 30 per cent quota for freedom-fighters’ children in government, semi-government and autonomous institutions.

“The anti-liberation forces wanted to eliminate the spirit of Liberation War by killing Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, but all of their efforts went in vain”, he added.
The function was also attended among others, by freedom fighters Abdul Malek Miah, Sultan Ahmed, Jalal, Asaduzzaman Khan Durjoy and General Secretary of the organisation Ashikur Rahman Khan.
