Garments Sramik Adhikar Andolon
A rally organised by Garments Sramik Adhikar Andolon was held in front of BGMEA Bhaban in the city’s Karwan Bazar on Wednesday. In the rally the speakers demanded Taka 16,000 as minimum salary for the garments employees. The programme was addressed, among others, by President of Coordinated Garments Sramik Federation Rafiqul Islam Pathik, President of Bangladesh Garments Textiles Federation Advocate Mahbubur Rahman Ismail, President of Bangladesh Garments Sramik Sanghati Taslima Akktar Lima, leader of Garments Sramik Federation Rajib Chakravarty and leader of the organisation Towhidul Islam. Coordinator of Garments’ Sramik Sangathan Jote Moshrefa Mishu presided over the function.
Bangladesh Nari Sangbadik Kendra
A memorial meeting on Nurjahan Begum, Editor of the Indian subcontinent’s first women’s weekly magazine ‘Begum’, organised by Bangladesh Nari Sangbadik Kendra (BNSK) was held recently at Jatiya Press Club in the city. In the programme the speakers said that Nurjahan Begum was a pioneer among the women of the world, not only in Bangladesh. She played a pioneering role in ensuring the empowerment of the women in the country. The function was addressed, among others, by Vice-President of the organisation Dil Monoara Monu, Joint Secretary of BNSK Aditi Rahman, elder daughter of Nurjahan Begum, Flora Nasrin and Sports organiser and journalist of Begum Alia Ferdousi. President of BNSK Nasimun Ara Haq Minu presided over the event.
