A discussion on ‘Achievement in controlling tobacco and challenges’ organised jointly by Bangladesh Anti Tobacco Alliance (BATA) and Work for a Better Bangladesh (WBB) Trust marking World Tobacco Free Day was held at Jatiya Press Club in the city on Monday. In the discussion the speakers said the tobacco companies are creating impediments for the government in controlling its consumption. “Tobacco companies know if they print graphic warnings messages in packets, the consumer will fall. So, they are creating different impediments in doing this from the beginning,” they added. The function was addressed, among others, by National Anti-Tuberculosis Association of Bangladesh (NATAB) President Mozaffar Hossain Paltu, Technical Adviser of The Union Advocate Syed Mahbubul Alam.
and Barrister Shamim Ahmed Patwary, Vice-Chairman of Board of Trustees of Dhaka International University.
BATA Coordinator Saifuddin Ahmed presided over the event.
