Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Nagorik Dal
A rally organised by Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Nagorik Dal was held at Dhaka Eastern Trade Center in the city on Saturday. In the programme the speakers demanded to withdraw false cases filed against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. They also demanded immediate release of all BNP leaders and activists including BNP Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Amanullah Aman. The function was attended, among others, by Chief Adviser of the organisation MA Salam, its Senior Vice-President Shafiqul Islam, Vice-President Engineer Masum Billal and former Deputy Attorney General Advocate Monir Hossain Md. Shahjahan Kabir.

In a joint statement, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) President Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul and Secretary General Omar Faruk, Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) President Shaban Mahmud and General Secretary Sohel Haider Chowdhury on Saturday demanded immediate enactment of Media Workers (conditions of services) Act, soon to bring the TV channel and other electronic media journalists and workers under the purview of the newly formed 9th wage board. They also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for declaring the 9th wage board and hoped that the government would implement the proposed act before the first sitting of the board so all media workers, especially those employed in different electronic media, can enjoy the benefits of the wage board award. The statement mentioned that being the apex body of the journalist unions BFUJ submitted the draft of the proposed law to the Information Ministry three years back.
