Green University of Bangladesh
Department of Textile Engineering of Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) has organised a seminar entitled “Problems and Prospects of Textile Diploma Engineers in the Present Job Market” on Saturday in the Green Auditorium of the University. Vice Chancellor of GUB, Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir was the Chief Guest while Md. Mamun-Ur-Rashid, Assistant Manager at TÜV SÜD Bangladesh (Pvt.) Ltd as key note speaker . On this program, respected heads and representatives of different diploma textile institutes attended and shared their valuable opinions and demands. Chairperson of Textile Engineering, Dean of Science and Engineering faculty, Treasurer, Registrar, Director (F&A) of GUB and all faculties of Textile Engineering Department were present in this event.

“When I got bad result in school I hate menstruation because I have to miss my school during those days and I love my school. On those days my mother always forces me to stay at home. My school does not have any facilities where I can change and dispose menstrual waste.” – an adolescent girl expressed her feelings during a Bicycle Rally in the capital city as a part of observance of Menstrual Hygiene Management Day 2016. In replying to the question of media people the National Coordinator of Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) Bangladesh Shah Md. Anowar Kamal said that the objective of observing the day globally is to break taboos surrounding menstruation, raise awareness of the importance of good menstrual hygiene management worldwide. He said that MHM should be clearly articulated with matching budget and monitoring systems developed within National Policy. The Bondhu Foundation in association with Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC), Practical Action Bangladesh, FANSA Bangladesh and Unnayan Shahojogy Team (UST) arranged programmnes on Saturday to observe the Menstrual Hygiene Management Day 2016 in observance of Global Menstrual Hygiene Day 2016 with a global theme “Menstruation Matters to Everyone, Every where”. The main slogan was “Break the Silence, Let’s talk about Menstruation”. After that a big bicycle rally with Banner, Facetoon, Caps, T-Shirt with MHM Messages passed through main roads from National Press Club to Dhaka University. Adolescent girls of different universities, teachers, representatives from Practical Action Bangladesh, Bondhu Foundation, FANSA Bangladesh and Unnayan Shahojogy Team (UST) and ADHNIK participated in the rally. Shah Md. Anowar Kamal, Saifullah Mithu , Alamgir Chowdhury , Rizwan Khan , Sharifur Rahman and Sayedur Rahman , Saiful Islam attended the rally among others.

University Grants Commission
Bangladeshi higher educational institutions lag behind the world ranking as the country’s universities don’t make their websites uptodate by inserting latest information of higher education on regular basis. The university authorities should make their websites up date by putting in latest information, observed UGC Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan. He made the observation while speaking as the Chief Guest at an inaugural ceremony of orientation programme of Higher Education Management Information System ( HEMIS) Users’ Interface Training” at UGC auditorium yesterday. UGC Member Prof Dr. Dil Afroza Begum was present as special guest. UGC Member Prof Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain presided over the function. Dr. Gauranga Chandra Mohanta, ndc, Project Director , Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project delivered welcome of address .
Bangladesh Documentary Council
The screening and discussion session of internationally acclaimed and award winning documentary film in recent international film festivals ‘The Beaches of Agnes’ has been arranged by Bangladesh Documentary Council on Saturday at the Seminar Hall of National Public Library, Shahbagh in the city . The program is open to all. It is mentionable that ‘The Beaches of Agnes’ is a French documentary film. The film is an autobiographical essay where Varda revisits places from her past, reminisces about life and celebrates her 80th birthday on camera. Agnès Varda explores her memories, mostly chronologically, with photographs, film clips, interviews, reenactments, and droll, playful contemporary scenes of her narrating her story, says a press release.
