Garment Sramik Trade Union Kendra
A demonstration organised by Garment Sramik Trade Union Kendra was brought out in the city on Monday. The programme gheraoed Minimum Wage Board to realise their various demands. In the function the leaders of the organisation demanded Tk 16,000 as gross salary for each garment employee. The function was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of the organisation Joly Talukder, Treasurer MA Shahin, Sadequr Rahman Shamim, Joynal Abedin and Mohammad Jewel. The speakers also urged the government and owners of garment industries to take necessary steps against the repression on garments employees. Executive President of the Garment Sramik Trade Union Kendra Kazi Ruhul Amin presided over the event.
Bangladesh United Islamic Party
A rally organized by Bangladesh United Islamic Party was held at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the city. Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif was present at the programme held on the fifth instant as the chief guest. While speaking Hanif said BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is hatching conspiracy to create unrest in the country saving her from being punished in the court verdict.”Khaleda Zia wants to catch fish in troubled water as she knows she must be awarded punishment for embezzling money of orphans. As Jamaat could not take part in the previous parliament election, BNP plotted to thwart the election without joining it, he added. Hanif said the next 11th Jatiya Sangsad election will be held as per the constitution and it will not remain stopped for anybody.The AL leader urged everyone to remain alert to resist any sorts of conspiracy of BNP-Jamaat against the country. The function was also addressed, among others, by AL Publicity and Publications Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud and Sirajul Islam Molla, MP. United Islamic Party President Mawlana Ismail Hossain presided over the event.
