The annual conference of Blind Law Graduates and Advocates Society Bangladesh
(BLASBD) was held calling for upholding the rights of the blind lawyers in the country. Addressing the programme, the speakers underscored the need for formation of an inclusive society as per the Persons with Disabilities Rights and Protection Act-2013 to ensure the rights of the persons with disabilities in the country. Presided over by Adv Musherraf Hossain Mazumder, Convener of the organisation, AHM Noman Khan, Executive Director of CDD attended as chief guest at the programme held recently at the conference hall of Blind Education and Rehabilitation Development Organization (BERDO) in the city’s Mirpur. Attended by a number of blind lawyers, the conference was aimed at formulating a constitution of the organization and chalking out programmes for protecting the rights of the persons with disabilities. The function was addressed, among others, by Rezaul Wadud, Chairman of Bangladesh Human Rights Enforcement Council, Nazma Ara Begum Popy, General Secretary of Bangladesh Visually Impaired People’s Society (BVIPS) and Saidul Huq, Executive Director of BERDO.
