A discussion on orientation ceremony of the newly elected office-bearers of Dhaka-based Madaripur Journalists Association and a reception accorded to eight eminent personalities of the district was held on Wednesday in the VIP Lounge of Jatiya Press Club in the city. Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan was present as the chief guest. While speaking the minister said BNP can’t derive any benefit by conspiring with Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad, as none can go to power depending on conspiracy. The programme was also addressed, among others, by politician Ameer Hossain and General Secretary of the association Mamun Dhali. Prominent personalities, among others, were accorded reception at the function included Poet Asim Saha and vocalist Nakul Chandra Biswas. President of the association Syed Afzal Hossain presided over the function.
Faridpur Sahitya Sanskriti Unnayan Sangstha
A comprehensive programme marking 400th death anniversary of great English litterateur, poet William Shakespeare organised jointly by Faridpur Shahitya Sanskriti Unnayan Sangstha (FSSUS) and Faridpur Shakespeare Society was held in the auditorium of Shilpakala Academy in Faridpur on Tuesday. The programme included exhibition of the popular quotations of Shakespeare and discussion meeting. In the event the speakers recalled the contributions of Shakespeare in the field of literature and poem. Prof. Rezvi Zaman, a teacher of English Department of Government Rajendra College, Faridpur presented an elaborate discussion on Shakespeare. The function was presided over by FSSUS President and freedom fighter Abul Faez Shahnawj. A large number of teachers, students and elite were present on the occasion.
