Workers Party of Bangladesh

A meeting organised by the Workers Party of Bangladesh was held at the party central office in the city. In the programme held on the fifteenth instant Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister and President of the party Rashed Khan Menon was present as the chief guest. While speaking Menon urged the leaders and workers of the party to vote 14-party alliance in the next polls to take forward the present non-communal democratic political trend and development. “There is no alternative to the advancement of the present non-communal democratic political trend and development of the country,” he added. The meeting paid rich tributes to the memories of martyred freedom fighters who were killed during the Liberation War. It also expressed condolences at the death of Chittagong City Awami League President and former Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation Mohiuddin Chowdhury. Leaders and workers of all units under Motijheel thana and members of primary committee were present on the occasion. The function was also addressed, among others, by Workers Party Politburo Member Comrade Kamrul Ahsan, central committee member Dipankar Saha Dipu, Comrade Mostafa Alamgir Ratan and party’s city unit Secretary Comrade Kishore Roy. Motijheel thana unit Secretary of the party Murshida Akhter Nahar presided over the event.

 Bangabandhu Gabeshana Parishad

A rally organised by Bangabandhu Gabeshana Parishad was brought out in the city in observance of the Martyred Intellectuals Day. After the rally brought out on the fourteenth instant the parishad paid rich tributes to the martyred intellectuals by placing floral wreaths at the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in the city’s Mirpur. A discussion was also held on the premises of the memorial on the occasion. In the programme the speakers said that on the eve of victory of the Liberation War the Pakistan occupied forces along with its associates Al- Badr killed the innocent intellectuals with a view to making the nation free from intellectuals. They urged the government to publish the list of martyred intellectuals as the official gazette. The discussion was addressed, among others, by Vice-President of the organisation and freedom fighter Nurul Islam Talukder, its Publicity Secretary Advocate Khan Chaman-e-Elahi and its Executive Member Masud Alam. President of the parishad Lion Gani Mia Babul presided over the event.
