Bhasani Sahitya-Sangskritik Parishad
A discussion organised by Bhasani Sahitya-Sangskritik Parishad was held at Jadu Mia Auditorium in the city’s Nayapalton on Monday marking the fifth founding anniversary of the parishad. In the programme the speakers underscored the need for cultural function including dance, drama and music to resist communalism and terrorism. They stressed upon progressive-nationalist political struggle for the emancipation of the common people. The event was addressed, among others, by Secretary General of Bangladesh NAP M Golam Mostofa Bhuiyan, Acting Secretary General of NDP Manjur Hossain Isha, NAP Organising Secretary Kamal Bhuiyan and Prof Sheuly Sultana. Convenor of the organisation Matiara Chowdhury Minu presided over the function.
Bangladesh NGO Foundation
A discussion organised jointly by Bangladesh NGO Foundation, Ladies Organisation for Social Welfare (LOFS) and Children Education and Awareness Programme was held in Rajshahi. In the programme held recently the speakers stressed upon the need for collective efforts of all government and non-government organisations to ensure the right to education for the children of poor and underprivileged families. Access and equity to education to all has become an urgent need for overall development of the nation. They said students’ dropouts from primary and secondary schools could be prevented through collective efforts of all teachers, guardians and community people. Besides, the government, rich people and financial institutions should come forward towards providing education to the underprivileged children.The function was addressed, among others, by Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation Musaddeque Hossain Bulbul, Coordinator of Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust Advocate Shamina Begum and LOFS President Shahnaj Parveen. Vice-President of LOFS Azizur Rahman presided over the event. The speakers underscored the aspects of ensuring child-friendly atmosphere in the society. They said all organisations concerned should come forward to protect the legitimate rights of the underprivileged children.
