Jahangirnagar University Cultural Union
A 15-member executive body of the Jahangirnagar University Cultural Union (JUCU) has been announced for the next one year. Mikha Peregu of the Marketing and Abdullah Bin Bashar Aninda of the English Department have been made the President and General Secretary respectively, a press release of Jahangirnagar University said on Tuesday. The new committee was announced at its annual meeting held at the Teacher Student Center of the university. The other members of the committee are Vice-Presidents Kaberi Sultana Joti and Nusrat Tuba; Joint Secretaries Hasan Jamil and Tasnuva Tazin Eva; Organising Secretary Tasibul Gani Niloy, Treasurer Tushar Dhar, Publication Secretary Bakbeth Neel, Joint Publication Secretary Nilangan Dey and Office Secretary Fahim Mukarar.
Nat’l Anti-tuberculosis Assoc of Bangladesh
An advocacy meeting on ‘Creating Mass Awareness to Fight Tuberculosis’ organised by National Anti-tuberculosis Association of Bangladesh (NATAB), Rajshahi unit was held at SK Food World Restaurant in the city. In the programme held on Tuesday the speakers have underscored the need for a concerted effort to create awareness among mass people for building a tuberculosis-free society.They said TB is no more a killer disease as its early detection, proper and timely diagnosis, treatment and preventive measures are found effective in fighting the disease. Rajshahi Divisional Director of Health Dr Abdus Sobhan addressed the meeting as the chief guest with NATAB local unit President Advocate Golam Rabbani in the chair. Assistant Director of Health Dr Ismat Ara and Editor of Daily Sonar Desh Akbarul Hassan Millat also spoke on the occasion. NATAB local unit General Secretary Advocate Shahinul Haque Moon illustrated the aims and objectives of the meeting.Dr Abdus Sobhan said the TB is an infectious disease that usually spreads out through breathing of the affected patients. “It is no more a deadly disease and it is fully cured if the affected patients take proper treatment,” he said. He said free treatment facilities are available in all the upazila health complexes, district and tertiary hospitals, public and private medical colleges and health centres of various NGOs.
