Department of Languages of IUBAT-International University of Business Agriculture and Technology organized the prize -awarding ceremony of Book Reading Competition at IUBAT Conference Hall on Monday. The 10 best winners among the participants of the reading competition conducted in Fall-16, Spring-17 and Summer-2017 have received the prizes and certificates on this graceful occasion, says a press release.
Professor Dr. Abdur Rab, VC of the University presided over the ceremony. In his presidential speech, Prof Rab shed light on the importance of reading habit and how it helps the learners to develop their reading skill. He also mentioned in his speech that reading is his most favorite hobby and he expressed his intention to give more support in future to motivate and to involve more students in such activities. Mr. Jim Pollard, Director, Business Support for Bangladesh Operation British Council, Bangladesh as the Chief Guest on the ceremony also encouraged the students of IUBAT to participate in book reading competition and appreciated the learning facilities such as scholarship and loan provided by IUBAT. Dr. Md. Momtazur Rahman, Associate Professor of English and Coordinator, Department of Languages, IUBAT delivered the welcome speech, underscored the importance of book reading competition and stressed the need for reading skills. The faculty members were present in the program. Finally, Prof KAM Matin delivered the speech on vote of thanks. The Reading Competition was coordinated by Sadekul Islam and Forhad Hossain, Lecturers, Department of Languages, IUBAT.
Textile Club of Green University
Textile Club of Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) organised a colorful ‘Tex Fest-2017’ to encourage graduates of textile department. GUB VC, Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir was the Chief Guest of the programme while Eng. Md. Salim Reza, Executive Director of Divine Group; Eng. S.M Mizanur Rahman, Executive Director of Rising Group were special guest. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fayyaz Khan, Pro Vice chancellor; Prof. Dr. Nitai Chandra Sutradhar, Distinguished Professor; Prof. Dr. Ismail Chowdhury, Chairperson; Dr. Jagannath Biswas delivered their speech. Faculty members of different departments, faculty members, officials and a large number of students made the occasion an event of joy and happiness, says a press release.  
University Grants Commission
Bangladesh Deputy High Commission, Kolkata is going to organize a 5-day long ‘Victory Festival of Bangladesh’ to mark the Victory Day celebration from 15-19 December 2017. The Victory Festival will be held at the premises of Bangladesh Deputy High Commission, Kolkata every day. Prof Abdul Mannan, Chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh will deliver speech on Victory Festival of Bangladesh as honorable discussant. The objectives of Victory Festival are to uphold the image of Bangladesh through presenting different glorious historical, cultural and commercial issues of the country. The festival will consolidate the relationship between these two friendly countries. Renowned artistes from Bangladesh and India will perform everyday on the occasion. Films made on Liberation War will be screened during the festival, says a press release.
