President and General Secretary of Bangladesh Progressive Writers’ Association Poet Golam Kibriya Pinu and Poet Shakhwat Tipu in a statement issued on Monday bitterly criticized and also expressed grave concern over the killing of former General Secretary of Udichi Shilpi Ghosthi, Dhaka Mahanagar Sangsad, Ludmila Leeza. They urged the government to give exemplary punishment to the killer(s) of Leeza.

A rally organised by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote (BSJ) was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club on Sunday. Awami League (AL) Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest. While speaking Hasan said that BNP leaders now become tight-lipped as money laundering of Zia family in Saudi Arabia and other countries has revealed. Criticising BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Hasan said, “All the time he used to talk in social media and television channels from home and abroad, but why did he keep mum when the money laundering cases has exposed?” “Begum Khaleda Zia has many properties, including shopping mall and building in Saudi Arabia. According to media reports, Zia family has assets worth about Taka thousands of crore in 12 countries,” he added. Hasan asked the government to identify all the illegal assets of Zia family in different countries through proper investigations and bring the asset back in the country. The function was addressed, among others, by Relief and Social Welfare Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Sujit Roy Nandi and General Secretary of the organisation and actress Falguni Hamid. Vice-President of the organisation Asrar Ul Hasan Asur presided over the programme.
