BD Awami Muktijoddha Projanmo League
A rally in protest against hartal called by the Communist Party of Bangladesh, Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal and Ganotantrik Bam Morcha was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Thursday. Bangladesh Awami Muktijoddha Projanmo League orgasnised the programme. Food Minister Qamrul Islam was present as the chief guest in the rally. While speaking Qamrul said there is no scope for holding early election in the country. “There is no possibility of holding early election…The next parliamentary election will be held as per the constitution in December of the next year (2018),” the minister added. Qamrul said the government will not accept any illogical demand of BNP. President of the organisation Asaduzzaman Durjoy presided over the programme. The rally was also addressed, among others, by AL Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud and Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote (BSJ) General Secretary Arun Sarker Rana.
Ladies Organisation for Social Welfare
A discussion organised by Ladies Organisation for Social Welfare (LOFS), an NGO, in association with Children Education and Awareness Programme and Bangladesh NGO Foundation was held in Rajshahi. In the programme held recently the speakers stressed upon the need for collective efforts of all government and non-government organisations to ensure the right to education for the children of poor and underprivileged families. Access and equity to education to all has become an urgent need for overall development of the nation. They said students’ dropouts from primary and secondary schools could be prevented through collective efforts of all teachers, guardians and community people. Besides, the government, rich people and financial institutions should come forward towards providing education to the underprivileged children. The speakers said. highlighting the aspects of ensuring child-friendly atmosphere in the society, they said all organisations concerned should come forward to protect the legitimate rights of the underprivileged children.
The function was addressed, among others, by Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation Musaddeque Hossain Bulbul, Coordinator of Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust Advocate Shamina Begum and LOFS President Shahnaj Parveen. Vice-President of the organisation Azizur Rahman presided over the event.
