Central Secretary of Bangladesher Samyabadi Dal (Marxist-Leninist), Comrade Sayeed Ahmed in a statement issued on Tuesday expressed full solidarity with the half-day hartal called by Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) and Ganotantrik Bam Morcha tomorrow (November 30). He also criticized the government decision to increase price of electricity. He called upon all to build greater movement against any undemocratic activities of the government.

A discussion marking the 27th martyrdom anniversary of Dr Shamsul Alam Khan Milon organised by Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) was held on Monday at Dr Milon point at Dhaka Medical College (DMC). Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader was present as the chief guest in the programme. While speaking Quader said the condition of BNP is very pitiable and it is now on the brink of ruin. “The situation of AL or the democracy of the country is not at risk rather BNP itself is now on the road to ruin,” he added. On November 27 in 1990, Dr Milon, the then Joint-Secretary General of BMA, was gunned down by some miscreants on Dhaka University campus during the anti-autocracy movement. Quader said, “Democracy was in the coffin when BNP was in power…Now they are creating anarchy across the country after failing in all issues.” AL Joint General Secretary Dr Dipu Moni, BMA Secretary General Dr M A Aziz, former Health Minister Professor Dr AFM Ruhal Haq, DMC Director Brigadier General AKM Nasir Uddin and Selina Akhter, mother of Dr Milon, were present, among others, on the occasion.
