Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad
A discussion organised by Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad was held at Sarak Paribahan Samity auditorium at Segunbagicha in the city on Thursday. Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon was present as the chief guest. While speaking Menon recalled Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s immense role in the development of country’s tourism industry, saying he had formed Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation and dreamt to turn Cox’s Bazar into a global recreation hub. “Bangabandhu had formed the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation after independence of the country for turning tourism into one of the main sources of the country’s economic activities,” he added. Menon said the government is working to encourage adventure tourism as well as water sports in Cox’s Bazar to develop the country’s beach town as a single international tourist destination. Mentioning that the spirit of the great Liberation War was to build a secular democratic society, Menon urged the freedom fighters to be vigilant to foil any kind of conspiracy of the defeated forces of the Liberation War. The function was also addressed, among others, by former minister Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir and State Minister for Textile and Jute Mirza Azam. Vice-Chairman of the organisation Ismat Qadir Gama presided over the event.
