The leaders and activists of Jatiya Samabaya League, Central Committee paid tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing floral wreaths at his portrait in the city’s 32, Dhanmondi on Tuesday marking the 4th founding anniversary of the organisation. In the programme the speakers vowed to build Bangladesh as ‘Sonar Bangla’ dreamt by Bangabandhu. The function was addressed, among others, by President of the organisation Advocate Z Hasan Mohammad Ziblu, its General Secretary freedom fighter Abdul Wahab Mollah, Vice-President Sultan Mahmud, Joint General Secretary Zonaed Ahmed Tapu and its Organising Secretary Abdus Salam Sarder.
Girl Child Advocacy Forum
A meeting aiming to ensure dignified life of women through stopping all forms of deprivation and repression organised jointly by Girl Child Advocacy Forum and Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights was held in the IPD Conference Room of the Jatiya Sangsad on Monday. Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Md Fazle Rabbi Mian was present as the chief guest. While speaking Rabbi said social awareness should be created among the mass people to end all sorts of violence against women. “Women and children are being victimized as patriarchal mindset exists in society…we should educate womenfolk to empower them economically and socially,” he added. Rabbi said the government has taken massive initiatives including introduction of promoting girl education in the country to ensure their involvement in every sphere of society. “Alongside the government efforts, we all should extend their cooperation to provide women-friendly atmosphere for their empowerment,” he added. The function was also addressed, among others, by lawmakers Panchanan Biswas, Shamsul Alam Dudu, Yasin Ali and Country Director of the Hunger Project Dr Badiul Alam Majumdar. Chairman of the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights Mir Shawkat Ali Badsha presided over the event.
