Jatiya Ganotantrik League
A discussion in observance of birth centenary of former Prime Minister of India, late Shrimati Indira Gandhi organised by Jatiya Ganotantrik League was held in Journalist Nirmal Sen Auditorium in the city’s Topkhana Road on Sunday. In the programme the speakers recalled the contributions of Indira Gandhi. They said Indira Gandhi was humanist and also forerunner of democratic politics. She was a true friend of Bangladesh, they added. The discussion was addressed, among others, by BNF President Abul Kalam Azad, MP, President of Bangladesh Manobadhikar Andolon Maulana Khwaza Mahib Ullah Shantipuri, Awami League leader ASM Mostofa Kamal, President of Bangladesh Ganotantrik Mukti Andolon Ashraf Ali Hawlader and President of Bangladesh Online Activists Forum Kabir Chowdhury Tanmoy. President of Jatiya Ganotantrik League MA Jalil presided over the event.
Campaign for Mass Education
A views-sharing meeting titled ‘National Education Policy 2010: Implementation, Progress and Challenges’ organised jointly by Campaign for Mass Education and Shaw-Unnayan was held at Master Chef Hall Room in Rajshahi on Saturday. In the programme the speakers stressed the need for improving quality of education both in rural and urban areas for overall development of the nation. They said proper and successful implementation of the National Education Policy-2010 can be the vital means of attaining the cherished goal. Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, who addressed the meeting as the chief guest, said the present government has taken different initiatives for making the country’s education sector dynamic as education is the backbone of a nation. During keynote presentation, Dr Murshida Khanom, a researcher of Rajshahi University (RU), gave an overview of the national education policy and put forward a set of recommendations for its successful implementation.The function was also addressed, among others, by Assistant Director of Department of Primary Education Abul Kalam Azad, Assistant Director of Department of Non-formal Education Anwar Kamal and Shaw-Unnayan President Mustafizur Rahman Khan. Former Principal of Rajshahi Court Degree College Prof Shafiqur Rahman presided over the event.
