Film for Peace Foundation
A discussion organised jointly by Film for Peace Foundation and Bangladesh Support Group was held in the conference room of Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry in the city. Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam, BSc was present at the programme held on the fifth instant as the chief guest. While speaking Nurul Islam said the present government is firm to provide special facilities to remittance senders as they play an important role in the socio-economic development of the country. The present government’s aim is to ensure safe and fair migration as it can ensure the rights and welfare of Bangladeshi migrant workers abroad, he added. The minister said at present migration is a worldwide process and fair migration management can bring good for all. Bikas Chowdhury Barua, President of Bangladesh Support Group, Netherlands unit, presented his keynote paper on “Diaspora and Development.” The function was also addressed, among others, by Additional Secretary Mohammad Majharul Haque, Chairman of the Film for Peace Foundation Parves Siddique, International Adviser of the foundation Prof Moazzem Hossain and Dr Ahmed Ziauddin.
Bangladesh Trade Union Center
A seminar on ‘Labour Law for Protecting Rights of Labourers’ organised by Bangladesh Trade Union Center (BTUC) was held in the Conference Lounge of the Jatiya Press Club in the city. In the programme held recently the speakers said that it should be the motto of amendment of labour law just to protect the rights of labourers. The necessity of equal labour rights must for the development of country through increasing of production and productivity, they added. President of BTUC and veteran labour leader Shahidullah Chowdhury presided over the event. The function was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of the organisation Dr Wazedul Islam Khan, distinguished Fellow of the Center for Policy Dialogue Dr Mustafizur Rahman, journalist Ajoy Das Gupto, Advocate AKM Nasim, labour leader Rajekuzzaman Ratan and Joint General Secretary of the organisation Abul Kalam Azad.
