Awami Sangskritik Parishad
A discussion on the occasion of the Jail Killing Day and Muktijoddha Killing Day organised by Awami Sangskritik Parishad was held at Jatiya Granthakendro Auditorium in the city’s Bangabandhu Avenue. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan was present as the chief guest at the programme held on the fourth instant. While speaking Asaduzzaman said there is no dearth in security in the country as the detectives are alert against the menace of militancy and terrorism. After the August 15, 1975 carnage, the killings in the jail on November 3 was a deep rooted conspiracy to take the country backward, Asaduzzaman said, adding it was a heinous and brutal killing in the history. “The country’s development and prosperity were halted through the killing of those leaders who could lead the country after Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman ,” the minister said. He said the four national leaders – Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed, Captain Mansur Ali and AHM Qamaruzzaman were close associates of Bangabandhu. The function was also addressed, among others, by Awami League (AL) Cultural Affairs Secretary Asim Kumar Ukil, Dhaka City South AL General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad and Vice-President of the parishad Mohammad Sharif. President of the organisation Ismat Qadir Gama presided over the event.
Forum for Protecting Pry Teachers’ Rights
An emergency meeting organised by Forum for Protecting Primary Teachers’ Rights was held at its central office in city’s Uttar Manikdia, Sabujbag . In the programme held recently the speakers demanded ban on coaching business and guide book to ensure quality primary education. They also called upon to stop examination business of primary schools. They said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and her daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina nationalized primary education to ensure rights of education of the poor people. Convenor of the forum Siddiqur Rahman presided over the event. The function was addressed, among others, by Senior Joint Convenor of the forum Golam Mostofa (Thakurgaon), Joint Convenor Golam Mostofa (Mymensingh), its Dhaka city Convenor MA Siddique Miah, its member Rezia Sultana Tarafdar (Habiganj) and Subrata Roy (Pirojpur).
