A two- day conference jointly organised by Department of Livestock Services and FAO ECTAD ended at Royal Tulip Hotel in Cox’s Bazar recently . Speakers at the conference said veterinarians need to keep up-to-date with advances in his/her professional field as well as maintaining and increasing competence. Much of the knowledge is gained through experience, however participation in Continuing Education (CE) implies going further than relying solely on experience and means active attendance at meetings, courses or the use of the increasing number of self-motivational programmes using information technology. With these views a two days conference ended recently at Royal Tulip Hotel in Cox’s Bazar. At least 500 veterinarians from various sectors are participating in the conference. A press conference was held and it was addressed by Dr Md. Ainul Haque, DG, Department of Livestock Services, Dr. David Doolan, FAO Representative in-charge in Bangladesh, Prof Priya Mohan Das, Convener, National Veterinary Dean Council, Dr Md Mehedi Hossain, Director, Extension, Department of Livestock Services, Prof Md. Sayedur Rahman, Department of Pharmacologyw, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University and human health focal point Bangladesh Antimicrobial Response Alliance (BARA),Dr Eric Brum, Country Team Leader, FAO ECTA and Prof Nitish Chandra Debnath, Senior Technical Advisor, FAO ECTAD, says a press release.

Baridhara Society

A mutual of understanding has been signed between M. Ehsanul Hoque, President- Baridhara Society and Nipin Gangadharan, Country Director-Action Against Hunger for assistance to Rohingya Refugees at 93 Sohrawardy Avenue on Tuesday evening. Through this MoU Baridhara Society offers to pay an amount of BDT 1,180,000 (Eleven lakh Eighty Thousand) as an initial donation for installing 10 (ten) tubewells in the extended part of Kutupalong makeshift settlement at Ukhiya in Cox’s Bazar on behalf of Baridhara Society. Action Against Hunger will submit their completion report next December 2017. Among others, Monzur Uddin Ahmed- Secretary General, Dr. Nayma Reja Chowdhury-Vice President and Hasina Bari Chowdhury-President Gulshan Mohila Awamileque and Executive Committee Member of Baridhara Society present on the occasion, says a press release.

Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project

The members of the 16th World Bank Support Mission presented the draft Aide Memoire at the pre-wrap up meeting at UGC auditorium yesterday. Prof Abdul Mannan, Chairman, UGC presided over the meeting while Dr. Md. Mokhlesur Rahman, Senior Operations Officer, World Bank presented the Aide Memoire on behalf of World Bank Support Mission. World Bank Mission expressed satisfaction over the progress of the Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP). Progress of the activities of HEQEP and action plan for the next six months were also discussed in the meeting. UGC Chairman welcomed the delegation at the meeting and thanked all concerned with HEQEP for contributing to the achievement. He also urged them to discharge their duties with sincerity and dedication. Prof Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Member, UGC, Prof Dr. Dil Afroza Begum, Member, UGC, Dr Gauranga Chandra Mohanta, ndc, Project Director (Additional Director), HEQEP, Shiro Nakata, Senior Education Eckonomist and officials and consultants of different units of HEQEP were present, says a press release.
