Jatiya Ganotantrik League
A rally organised jointly by Jatiya Ganotantrik League and Juktafront Jote was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Thursday in protest against hartal called by Jamaat-Shibir. In the programme the speakers called upon all imbued with the perception of the Liberation War to cancel politics of anti-liberation forces Jamaat-Shibir forever. The function was addressed, among others, by Secretary General of BNA Jote Major (Retd) Sheikh Habibur Rahman, President of Jatiya Ganotantrik League MA Jalil, Dhaka North Awami League leader ASM Mostofa Kamal, Secretary General of Jatiya Swadhinata Party Mizanur Rahman Mizu, Chairman of Bangladesh Ganotantrik Mukti Andolon Ashraf Ali Hawlader, President of Bangladesh Manobadhikar Andolon Maulana Khwaja Mahib Ullah Shantipuri, Chairman of Jatiya Janata Party Maulana Anwar Shah and President of Muktijoddha Palli Society Alamgir Sheikh. Chairman of Juktafront Jote Lion Salam Mahmud presided over the function.
Blue Sky Charitable Foundation
A seminar marking the World Breast Cancer Day organised by Blue Sky Charitable Foundation (BSCF) was held at the Probashi Kalyan Bhaban in the city. In the programme held on the 10th instant Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam B.Sc. was present as the chief guest. While speaking Nurul said the death rate from breast cancer is possible to cut down by ensuring better treatment and increasing awareness among the people.The minister urged the women affected by breast cancer to go to the doctors for treatment breaking all prejudices and misconceptions.He said the capability and empowerment of the country’s women can be increased through the protection of their health. The minister requested the Director General of Wage Earners’ Welfare Board (WEWB) and Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) and Managing Director of Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL) to discuss on the awareness of breast cancer during pre-immigration briefing to the female workers and teaching the female trainees at the technical training centers.
The function was addressed, among others, by BSCF Advisory Committee Head Ayesha Siddiqua Shelley, PDG, Rotary International SAM Shawkat Hossain and BSCF Chairman Syed Imam Ahmed Waliul Moula. Secretary of the ministry Dr Nomita Halder presided over the event.
