A discussion marking International Day of No Violence-2017 organised jointly by Sushasoner Jonyo Nagorik (SUJON) and The Hunger Project Bangladesh (THPB), Rajshahi unit in association with Democracy International, USAID and UKAID was held at Shaheb Bazaar crossing in Rajshahi on Monday. In the programme the speakers said collective efforts of law-enforcers and community leaders could be effective means of eradicating all sorts of violence, terrorism and militancy. The present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is determined to root out terrorism and militancy in any form with collective efforts of all quarters, they added. ‘No More Violence, No More Militancy- Come Forward towards Building Our Country of Unity and Harmony’ was the slogan of the event. The speakers said all concerned quarters should supplement the government efforts towards freeing the nation from the ills of militancy and terror attacks. President of the organisation Piar Baksha presided over the event.
International Crimes Strategy Forum
International Crimes Strategy Forum (ICSF) has sought global supports for recognition of 1971 genocide and sexual violence committed by Pakistani troops and their accomplices as it staged an exclusive session with London-based Komola Collective, an art forum in suburban Manikganj. According to a press release the International Crimes Strategy Forum (ICSF) screened a mini-documentary on the 1971 Bangladesh Genocide titled ‘Creed for Justice’ as part of their cluster presentation on Sunday to support theBangladesh campaign for international recognition of 1971 atrocities as “genocide”.
The documentary was followed by the rendition of ‘Spoken Word Performance’ of the play ‘Birangona Women of War’ by Leesa Gazi from the Komola Collective. ICSF members Rasheda Khan and Barrister Tapas Kanti Baul presented two papers at the session.
