Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad
A discussion on 71st birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina organised by Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad was held at Dhaka Reporters Unity auditorium in the city’s Segunbagicha on Wednesday. In the programme the speakers wished for long life of Sheikh Hasina. The function was addressed, among others, by Publicity and Publications Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Dr Hasan Mahmud, Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad Sagufta Yasmin Emily, Advocate Sanjida Khanam, MP, Cultural Personality Syed Hasan Imam, Dr Enamul Haque, Leader of the Central Awami League Prof AKM Fazlul Haque, Awami League leader MA Karim and Barrister Sohrab Khan Chowdhury. President of the parishad Lion Chittaranjan Das presided over the event.
Begum Rokeya University Teachers’ Assoc
A rally organised by the leaders of Begum Rokeya University Teachers’ Association (BRUTA) was held on the campus of BRUR on the 26th instant. In the programme the speakers strongly condemned the genocide and atrocities being committed by Myanmar against the Rohingyas in Rakhine State. At the same time, the BRUTA leaders highly lauded the mother-like human behaviour extended by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to thousands of the fleeing Rohingya refugees and called for making Myanmar bound to take back their citizens. They demanded for stopping barbaric killings and genocide of the Rohingyas by Myanmar army with their local collaborators. The speakers strongly condemned the planned ethnic cleansing of the innocent Rohingyas through genocide, gang rape, arson, lootings and other crimes against humanity in Rakhine State by the Myanmar army and government. The function was addressed, among others, by BRUTA members Prof RM Hafizur Rahman, Assistant Professor Gazi Mazharul Anwar, Assistant Professor Shafiq Ashraf, Assistant Professor Apple Mahmud, Assistant Professor Umar Farooque, Lecturer Ahsanuzzaman. President of BRUTA Prof Abu Saleh Mohammad Wadudur Rahman presided over the event moderated by its General Secretary Golam Rabbani.
