Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad
A financial assistance and clothes were distributed among the families of Hindu priests who were killed in the attacks of extremists on Saturday organised by Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad was held on Shri Shri Dhakeshwari Jatiya Mandir premises in the city. Additional Commissioner, Counter Terrorism Unit, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Manirul Islam was present in the programme as the chief guest. While speaking Manirul said there is no place of extremists in any religion. The function was also attended, among others, by journalist Swapon Kumar Saha, General Secretary of the parishad Advocate Taposh Kumar Pal, Sabitry Bhattacharya, Milon Kanti Dutta, JL Bhoumik, Manindra Kumar Nath, Advocate Shyamal Kumar Roy, Prolay Zoarder, Sukumar Chowdhury and Biplab Kumar Dey. The parishad expressed profound sympathy to the family members of the deceased and prayed for the salvation of the departed souls.
World Peace Council
A discussion marking World Peace Day organised by World Peace Council was held at the Jatiya Press Club in the city on the twenty first instant. Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu was present in the programme as the chief guest. While speaking Inu said
Myanmar’s State Councilor Aung San Suu Kyi and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia were speaking in the same way. “They are not for peace, they are proponents of violence,” he added. Terming Khaleda Zia as communal and Su Kyi as anti-secular, he said, “What they are saying will result in violence in the region and instability.” The minister also demanded quick repatriation of Rohingya refugees to Myanmar, their resettlement, compensation for their sufferings, Myanmar citizenship for Rohingyas and trial of perpetrators of genocide against the Rohingya people. He also reiterated that tripartite initiative of Bangladesh, Myanmar and the United Nations was the best possible solution of the Rohingya crisis. He also put emphasis on the three-pronged strategy of the government-humanitarian, diplomatic and political- to deal the ongoing Rohingya crisis. “It is the combination of all three which will bring the greatest benefit to the long-suffering Rohingyas,” he said. Expressing sympathy for Rohingyas, he said Bangladesh was doing its best to help humanity in distress.
