Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BRCS) expressed profound shock over the death of nine people in a relief truck crash at Chakala on the way to Naikhhangchhari upazila of Bandarban district with humanitarian assistance for the Rohingya refugees fromMyanmar. In a condolence message on Thursday, BRCS Chairman Hafiz Ahmad Mazumder, Vice-Chairman Professor Md Habibe Millat, Treasurer Tawhidur Rahman and all members of the management council expressed grief over the deaths and conveyed deep sympathy to the members of bereaved families. “All members of BRCS management council are shocked at the untoward incident. We convey deep sympathy to the workers killed and injured in the incident,” BRCS Chairman Hafiz Ahmad Mazumder said. Nine people were killed and 12 others injured when a relief materials-laden truck of the Red Crescent Society plunged into a roadside ditch in Bichamara area on Naikhongchhari-Chakala road under Naikhongchhari upazila of the district on Thursday morning.

Former and incumbent leaders and activists of Dhaka University Journalists’ Association (DUJA) brought out a procession on the campus on the 19th instant marking its 32nd founding anniversary amid festivity. The procession led by DUJA President Forhad Uddin and General Secretary Forrukh Mahmud started from the Teacher-Student Center (TSC) and ended at the same place after parading the main streets of Dhaka University.

former General Secretary Elias Khan and its present members were present, among others, on the occasion. Earlier on September 19, 1985, DUJA started its journey with only 13 young journalists.
