Bangladesh Mess Organisation
A rally organised by Bangladesh Mess Organisation (BMO) was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Thursday. In the programme the speakers demanded of the government to play active role to compel Myanmar government to bring back Rohingya refugees immediately. They also urged the government to sensitise world leaders about Rohingya crises. The function was addressed, among others, by BMO Secretary General Aiyatullah Akhtar, Syed Akhtar Siraji, Advocate Al-Amin Rezvi, Rakibul Hasan and Dilip Biswas. Chairman of Natun Dhara Bangladesh Momin Mehedi and its Senior Vice-Chairman Shanta Farzana, among others, expressed their solidarity with this programme. President of the organisation Habibur Rahman presided over the event.
BD Resource Center for Indigenous Knowledge
A day-long youth campaign for protection of renewable energies and environment organised jointly by Bangladesh Resource Center for Indigenous Knowledge (BARCIK), a collective initiative for participatory research, policy advocacy and campaign and Barind Education Culture and Diversity Protection Centre (BECDPC) was held recentlyon Rajshahi College campus. In the programme the speakers opined substantial and sustainable protection of environment and natural resources together with promotion and using of renewable energies is very important for protecting both climate and life. They viewed there is an enormous scope of reducing the gradually mounting pressure on fossil fuel through boosting use of renewable energies in both rural and urban areas. Time has come to protect the natural resources including the wetlands and water bodies for restoring green atmosphere. The function was addressed, among others by Rajshahi College Principal Prof Habibur Rahman t, BARCIK Barind Regional Coordinator Shahidul Islam, BECDPC President Zawad Ahmed, itsGeneral Secretary Uzzal Hossain and executive members Jarina Khatun, Afifa Tazrin, Afifa Tasnim and Abdus Sobhan. The speakers emphasised the need for wide-ranging use of energy efficient products to reduce the existing pressure on power demands.
