Ganotantrik Bam Morcha
A meeting organised by Ganotantrik Bam Morcha was held at the office of Revolutionary Workers Party in the city’s Segunbagicha on Monday. In the programme the speakers bitterly criticized killing of Rohingya Muslims in Arakan region by Myanmar army. They called upon the Myanmar government to stop this genocide immediately. The speakers also urged the Bangladesh Government to take necessary steps bilaterally to stop this heinous killings. The function was addressed, among others, by central leaders of the organisation Zonaed Saki, Prof Abdus Sattar, Moshrefa Mishu, Hamidul Haque, Zahirul Islam and Akbar Khan. Coordinator of the organisation and General Secretary of Revolutionary Workers Party Saiful Haque presided over the function. The meeting also reviewed the latest political situation of the country.
Swadhinata Parishad
A discussion titled ‘August 21, 2004 Grenade Attack’ organised by Swadhinata Parishad was held at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity in memory of those who died in the attack. Awami League (AL) Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest. While speaking in the programme held on 26th instant Hasan demanded inclusion of the names of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, party leaders Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and Rizvi Ahmed as accused in 21st August grenade attack case. “As a sitting prime minister at that time Begum khaleda Zia could not avert the liability of the attack. Similarly the names of BNP leaders Khandaker Mosharraf and Rizvi Ahmed should include in the case as accused,” he added. The AL leader criticized BNP leaders Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and Rizvi Ahmed for their recent statements supporting the grenade attackers. He also castigated BNP founder Ziaur Rahman and the present party chief Begum Khaleda Zia for being agents of the Pakistani intelligence agency-ISI. The function was addressed, among others, by former State Minister for Home Affairs Advocate Shamsul Huq Tuku, former member of AL central executive committee Prof Shamsul Huq, AL leader Balaram Poddar and Bangabandhu Sanskritik Jote General Secretary Arun Sarkar Rana. President of the parishad Chittaranjan Das chaired the event.
