Assoc of Dev Agencies in Bangladesh
A press conference organised by the Association of Development Agencies in Bangladesh (ADAB) was held at Dhaka Reporters Unity in the city’s Segunbagicha on Thursday. In the programme the speakers gave some suggestions to save about 15 lakh dwellers in Bhabodaha areas in Jessore who are the worst victims of waterlogging for seven to eight months each year. ADAB, a coordinating body of Development Agencies in Bangladesh, has demanded of the government to take pragmatic steps to ensure normal flow of river water and sustainable solution of waterlogging at six upazilas of Bhabodaha areas. The suggestions were opening sluice gate for water removal, ensuring smooth flow of river water, proper execution of Tidal River Management (TRM) system, preventing encroachment by land grabbers and unplanned government development projects, stopping leasing open water bodies and restoring the water flow of Shree River and other wetlands in Jessore. The function was attended, among others, by ADAB Director AKM Jasim Uddin, Chairperson Joyanta Adhikari, water expert Engineer M Enamul Haque, journalist Syed Ahmed Bulbul, Khandaker Azizul Haque Moni of Save the Bill Movement and Bhabodaha inhabitant Prokash Chandra Dhar.

A voluntarily blood donation campaign was held on Battala premises of Dhaka University (DU) in observance of National Mourning Day and the 42nd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) central committee on the 14th instant organized the campaign while Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) President Mustafa Jalal Mohiuddin inaugurated the campaign as the chief guest.
