Majid-Jarina Foundation
An elaborate programmes to observe the National Mourning Day organised by Majid-Jarina Foundation have been chalked out to pay tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on his 42nd martyrdom anniversary today.
To mark the day, the foundation will keep the national flag at half-mast while black flag will be hoisted at 7:00 am at its school and college located in Shariatpur district. As part of the programmes, all teachers and students along with guests would join mourning procession wearing black badges. They will also place wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu. An art competition has been arranged on Bangabandhu. A documentary film on Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be screened. Besides, a discussion will also be held there. The foundation will also hold doa mahfil for all family members of Father of the Nation and others who embraced martyrdom with Bangabandhu on August 15, 1975. Later, prizes would be distributed among the winners of art competition.
World Vision Bangladesh
A discussion and cultural programme for the children organised jointly by World Vision Bangladesh and Lady’s Organization for Social Welfare (LOSF) was held at Public Library conference hall in Rajshahi on Monday. In the programme the speakers said the present children will be the key players to take the nation forward in future to protect their fundamental rights. The children must be freed from all sorts of cruelties and inhuman behaviours, violation, repression and deprivation for building them as worthy
citizens and social contributors. Social responsibility and political will is very much important to this end, the speakers added. They said physical and mental development of children couldn’t be possible until they were protected from violence and deprivation since their early childhood. Terming children as future power of the nation, they called for ensuring equal rights for development of their latent talents as they constitute a significant portion of the country’s total population.
