Banani Society
Showkat Ali Bhuiyan (Dilon) and ABM Abus Salam were elected President and General Secretary respectively of the Banani Society, an organization of the prestigious people of the city’s posh area Banani, for two years. As many as 17 posts of the 21-member society went to the credit of Dilon-Salam Parishad with Anjam Maruf as the Treasurer and M A Mottaleb as the Bloc C representative for 2017-2019 period, a press release of the society said on Sunday. Former Election Commissioner Muhammad Sohul Hussein conducted the election held at the Banani Model School on Saturday.

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has launched a programme titled ‘Build Green School’ as part of its efforts to make the city green.Under the programme, students would make their school premises green and clean through planting saplings and keeping garbage in dustbins. As many as 100 schools of DSCC will be brought under the programme in phases. Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sayeed Khokon inaugurated the programme on the 10th instant at Swamibag Mitali Bidyapith in the city. Paribartan Chai, a social organisation, organized the programme. While speaking Khokon said, “We are working to make Dhaka a livable city for next generation through ensuring clean environment.” DSCC has planted saplings of different varieties of trees in urban areas including streets, dividers and roadsides to make Dhaka a green city, he added.
