Amra Muktijoddhar Santan
A rally organised by ‘Amra Muktijoddhar Santan’ was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Saturday. In the rally the speakers demanded publication of white paper about the conspiracy of the killing of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The function was addressed, among others, by Secretary General of Jatiya Muktijoddha Samonnoya Committee Shafiqul Bahar Majumder Tipu, freedom fighter Sharif Uddin, Presidium members of the organisation Mohammad Emdadul Haque, Mohammad Nuruzzaman Bhutta, its Vice-President Aminul Islam Ripon, Central Organizing Secretary Advocate Nazim Uddin and Vice-President of the organisation’s Dhaka Mahanagar unit Mohammad Salahuddin. The speakers bitterly criticized those who are hatching conspiracy to turn Bangabandhu’s contribution into trifle.
Film Society of Dhaka University
Different programmes marking the sixth death anniversary of acclaimed filmmaker Tareque Masud and cinematographer and former Chief Executive Officer of ATN News Mishuk Munier being held by the Film Society of Dhaka University. They died in a road accident on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Ghior Upazila of Manikganj on August 13 in 2011 while returning to Dhaka from Manikganj after visiting a filming location. Film Society of Dhaka University is holding the Ninth International Inter-University Short Film Festival from Friday at the TSC auditorium of Dhaka University where different short films are being screened. On Saturday Bangla films were screened at the TSC auditorium of Dhaka University. Eminent film maker Catherine Masud, wife of Tareque Masud was present on the occasion. Film screening will also be held at Alliance Francaise, Dhaka, on August 20-21 and at Alliance Francaise, Chittagong, on August 24-25 on the occasion.
