Garments Sramik Trade Union Kendra
A rally organised by Garments Sramik Trade Union Kendra was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Thursday. In the programme the speakers demanded payment of outstanding salaries of the Swan Garments employees as early as possible. The function was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of the organisation Joly Talukder, its Joint General Secretary Iqbal Hossain, Assistant General Secretary Jalal Hawlader, Finance Secretary MA Shaheen, Office Secretary Joynal Abedin, central leaders of the organisation Dulal Saha, Sadequr Rahman Shamim, Nurul Islam and Mohammad Shahjahan. Executive President of the organisation Kazi Ruhul Amin presided over the function.
Awami Swechchhasebak League
A discussion marking the 87th birth anniversary of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnessa Mujib organised by Awami Swechchhasebak League (ASL) was held in front of Bangabandhu Bhaban in the city’s Dhanmondi 32 on the 8th instant. Awami League Presidium Member and also Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim was present as the chief guest. While speaking Nasim said none has the authority to interfere in the affairs of sovereign parliament elected by the people. “The parliament, elected by the people, is sovereign and none, expect the people, has the authority to interfere in its affairs,” he added. Nasim said the next election will be held as per the constitution and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be the chief of the election-time government. “We will accept the people’s verdict whatever it would be,” he said, adding the government will do everything as per the constitution. BNP is now busy in hatching conspiracies to come to the power, Nasim said. The programme was addressed, among others, by AL Youth and Sports Secretary Md Harunur Rashid and AL central executive member SM Kamal Hossain. ASL Vice-President Nirmal Ranjan Guha, its Dhaka South City unit President Mobashwer Chowdhury and North unit President Debashis Biswas were also present in the function. ASL General Secretary Pankaj Debnath, MP, conducted the discussion. President of the organisation Advocate Molla Md Abu Kawsar presided over the event.
