Jatiya Sramik League

Jatiya Sramik League (JSL), a front organisation of Bangladesh Awami League on Sunday expelled its Bogra town Sramik League Convener Tufan Sarker for his alleged involvement in the raping of a Bogra female student. A press release of the JSL signed by its Office Secretary Aminul Islam informed this. “Jatiya Sramik League is an ideal organization. There is no room for any criminals like Tufan who was an accused in a rape case.” JSL President and General Secretary Sukur Ahmed and M Sirajul Islam
respectively in a statement said. They also demanded exemplary punishment to the culprits involved in raping the student after abduction.

Bangladesh Employers’ Federation

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance the private sector’s strategic management and professional capacity for inclusive growth between Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) was signed at BEF office at Chamber Building in the city on Saturday. BEF President Salahuddin Kashem Khan and Country Director of UNDP Sudipto Mukherjee signed the MoU on behalf of their respective side. The partnership is expected to pave the way for increased engagement of the UNDP with the employers of the private sector in Bangladesh with a view to achieving the Sustainable Development Goal 8 (SDG 8) – Decent Work and Economic Growth. Every year more than two million young people enter the workforce in Bangladesh and many of them lack the relevant education to compete on the job market at home and overseas. “Bangladesh Employer’s Federation has entered this partnership with UNDP to develop critically important management and professional skills of private sector to ensure private sector growth for employment generation, enhance remittance and overall the development of the country,” said BEF President Salahuddin Kashem Khan. “Through this partnership, we will facilitate establishment of a center of excellence to provide management and leadership skills of private sector executives and promote Bangladeshi talents in global business,” said Sudipto Mukherjee.
