Bangladesher Workers Party
A three-member relief committee of Bangladesher Workers Party (BWP) has been constituted at a meeting held at the party office in the city to distribute relief materials among the flood-affected areas across the country, said a press release on the 28th instant. The relief committee was formed in the standing committee meeting of the BWP, a partner of Awami League-led 14-party alliance, with Comrade Rashed Khan Menon, also the Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister, in the chair. BWP General Secretary Comrade Fazle Hossain Badsha, Comrade Anisur Rahman Mollik, Comrade Nurul Hasan, Comrade Noor Ahmed Bakul and Comrade Quamrul Ahsan were also present on the occasion. Expressing grave concern over the prevailing flood situation in some areas of the country, the meeting urged all irrespective of party affiliations to stand beside the flood-affected people.
Begum Rokeya University Teachers’ Association
An Eid reunion and reception accorded to the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University Rangpur (BRUR) Prof Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah organised by Begum Rokeya University Teachers’ Association (BRUTA ) was held at the Cafeteria of the university on the campus on Saturday. While addressing the programme Kalimullah has sought cooperation of all concerned for reducing session jam at the university. “There might be problems in any new institution and we have to indentify those without any interference of others to overcome,” he said. He said public university is an autonomous organisation and any problem, crisis or issues should be resolved internally. Executive Director of Jatiya Nirbachan Parjobekkhon Parishad (JANIPOP- National Election Observation Council) Advocate Itrat Amin Kalimullah, addressed the function as the guest of honour. Former BRUTA President Prof Dr. RM Hafizur Rahman delivered welcome speeeh on the occasion moderated by its Joint Secretary Atiur Rahman. Teachers of the university, members of their families and officials, among others, attended the function. President of the association and BRUR Associate Professor Dr. Abu Saleh Mohammad Wadudur Rahman presided over the event.
