Revolutionary Workers Party of Bangladesh
General Secretary of Revolutionary Workers Party of Bangladesh Saiful Haque in a statement on Saturday expressed grave concern over the arrest of General Secretary of Jatiya Mukti Council and one of the leaders of anti-autocratic students’ movement during Ershad regime Dr Faizul Hakim Lala and other three leaders of the council. In the statement Saiful said the law enforcers arrested Dr Faizul, Dr Abdul Hakim, Mujibur Rahman and Abul Kalam of the council for nothing but harassment politically. He urged the government for unconditional release of the four leaders immediately. Saiful also demanded to withdraw false cases filed against the four leaders. He called upon the government to avoid such autocratic path of repression for the greater interest of the nation, otherwise, the country will fall into deep crises.
Lok Natyadal
A seminar marking the 36th founding anniversary of Lok Natyadal was held in the seminar room of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the city’s Segunbagicha on Saturday. In the programme founder of Lok Natyadal and dramatist Liaquat Ali Lucky was present as the chief guest. While speaking Lucky said that group theatre Lok Natyadal is making a historical drama titled “Asamapta Atmajiboni O Samapto Swadhinata” on life and works of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman which is expected to be staged in December. Lucky is directing the drama on two books of Bangabandhu “Asamapta Atmajiboni” and “Karagarer Rojnamcha”. He said the drama will be an epic creation of Natyadal on Bangabandhu. “We are making the play through longtime research and plan,” he said, adding rehearsal for the drama has already begun. Lucky expressed his hope that the drama could be staged in the month of victory in December. Indian dramatist and researcher Dr Ashish Goswami presented the keynote paper on the occasion while Natyadal artiste Chakladar Mostafa Al Masud conducted the function.
