Bangladesh Labour Party
A rally organised by Bangladesh Labour Party was held on the premises of Bangladesh Photojournalists Association in the city’s Purana Palton on Thursday. In the programme the speakers bitterly criticised Muslim killings in India in the name of ‘Cow Protecting Movement’. They sought cooperation of the United Nations immediately to stop repression on minority Muslims in India. The function was addressed, among others, by Chairman of the party Dr Mostafizur Rahman Iran, its Secretary General Hamdullah Al Mehedi, Vice-Chairman Advocate Faruque Rahman, Joint Secretary General Ahsan Habib Emroze, Organising Secretary Abdullah Al Mamun, Youth Affairs Secretary
Humayun Kabir and its Publicity Secretary Abdur Rahman Khokon. Vice-Chairman of the organisation Engineer Farid Uddin presided over the function.
National Indigenous Council
A discussion marking the Santal Revolution Day organised by the National Indigenous Council was held at the Public Library Conference Hall in Rajshahi. In the programme held recently the speakers said ensuring social justice and development of living and livelihood conditions of ethnical minority communities in the country’s northwest region has become indispensable for their peaceful existence. They said the ethnic people were always deprived of land rights, food, healthcare, education and cultural facilities, so it is important that the government should ensure their fundamental rights besides full-filling other requisite demands. Development activists and academics under the banner of the council made the observations while addressing the discussion. Over 200 ethnic minority people joined the event. The function was addressed, among others, by Chief Adviser of the council and Convener of Parliamentary Caucus on Ethnic Minority Affairs Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, President of the council Rabindra Nath Saren, local unit President of Bangladesh Mohila Parishad Kolpona Roy, BLAST Coordinator Advocate Abdus Samad, Shaw Unnayan President Mustafizur Rahman Khan and leaders of the council Subhash Chandra Hembrom, Raj Kumar Shaon and Shushen Kumar Shayam Duar. District unit President of the organisation Bimal Chandra Rajoad chaired the function.
