A discussion on ‘Role of Political Parties in Curbing Extremism’ organised by Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad was held at the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Monday. Awami League Publicity and Publications Affairs Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest. While speaking Hasan said BNP-led 20-party alliance has been inciting terrorism and militancy in the country to turn Bangladesh into a failed state.
“BNP not only incites militancy but also its leaders and workers are involved in forgeries,” he added. Describing terrorism as a global menace, Dr Hasan said the USA, the UK, France, Belgium and different other countries have already witnessed terror attacks. “Bangladesh is not free from the menace. But no other country could curb militancy as quickly as Bangladesh,” he said.
