Greater Dhaka Journalists’ Forum
A discussion and Iftar Mahfil organised by Greater Dhaka Journalists’ Forum was held at the Jatiya Press Club (JPC) in the city on Thursday. Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque was present as the chief guest. While speaking Mozammel called upon the journalists to remain united in realizing their professional rights. “Journalists were always vocal in realizing their professional rights. If you (journalists) remain united always, you will be able to realize your professional rights side by side with firmly establishing amity and brotherhood among yourself,” he added. The function was addressed, among others, by Sanjida Khanam, MP, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Secretary General Omar Faruque, JPC General Secretary Farida Yasmin, BFUJ Treasurer Madhusudan Mondal, General Secretary of the forum Shaheen Chowdhury, JPC Executive Committee Member Poet Helal Hafiz and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) General Secretary Sohel Haider Chowdhury.

A discussion marking birth anniversary of Poet Sufia Kamal organised by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote (BSJ) was held in the city’s Sutrapur area on the 20th instant. In the programme the speakers said the literary works of renowned Poet Sufia Kamal still inspire the people with profound patriotism. Not only she struggled for establishing a society with equal rights of men and women but she had played an active role in all progressive movements in the country, said the speakers.
