Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists
The leaders of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists said initiatives would be taken to protect the rights of all journalists including those working at grassroots in the 9th Wage Board. BFUJ Secretary General Omar Faruque stated this at a view-exchange meeting with Gazipur Union of Journalists at the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Sunday. Omar Faruque reiterated the demand of forming the 9th Wage Board immediately for journalists. “Tough movement will be waged after the Eid-ul-Fitr if our demand is not met,” he said. The function was addressed, among others, by Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) President Shaban Mahmood and Gazipur Press Club President Prof Enamul Haque. Former BFUJ Treasurer Mohammad Ataur Rahman presided over the function.
Independence Nurses Council
A meeting organised by Independence Nurses Council was held at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) . In the programme held recently the participants prayed for the early recovery of Convenor of the council Rashida Khanom. The leaders of the organisation expressed grave concern over the appointment of a Deputy Secretary in the Director (Administration) Post of the Directorate of Nursing and Midwifery. They urged the authority concerned to meet its various demands including appointment of unemployed nurses and removal of selection grade complexities. The function was addressed, among others, by member of the council Iqbal Hossain Sabuj, its General Secretary, Dhaka Medical College Branch Maulad Hossain, President of the organisation , DMCH unit Nargis Khanam Munni, its General Secretary of Dhaka Mahanagar Committee Mazharul Islam, its Organising Secretary, Dhaka Mahanagar Committee Khademul Islam, Sanjeeb Mallik and Sanjoy Ranjan Halder. President of the council, Dhaka Mahanagar Committee Aziza Hena presided over the event.
