Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee
An opinion sharing meeting with the leaders of different thana committees of the city’s temples was held on the premises of Shri Shri Dhakeshwari Jatiya Mandir in the city on Friday. In the programme the speakers called upon all to forge greater movement for ensuring rights of people belonging to the Hindu community. They urged all to be united against the communal attacks on the Hindu people and its temples in different places of the country. The leaders also urged the government to take necessary steps to stop communal attack for the greater interest of the Hindus and country. The programme was addressed, among others, by President of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad Jayanta Sen Dipu, its General Secretary Advocate Taposh Kumar Pal, Dr. Nim Chandra Bhoumik, General Secretary of Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee Advocate Shiyamal Kumar Roy, Advocate Subrata Chowdhury, Kajol Devnath, Nirmal Kumar Chatterjee and leaders of the temple committees of the city. Muktijoddha Supreme Command Council
Leaders of Muktijoddha Supreme Command Council described as “hollow” the pledges made in BNP’s recently released Vision 2030 calling it an attempt to mislead the nation since most of the initiatives promised in the document was taken by now by the incumbent government. “They (BNP) made an effort to mislead the nation making a gimmick with some cheap and hollow promises for the freedom fighters in their Vision 2030,” Convener of the council Rashidul Islam recently told a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club. Reading out a written statement in presence of several other leaders of the Council Islam added “the facilities which have been promised in BNP’s Vision 2030, has already been implemented by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government”. He said the BNP pledged to appoint freedom fighters to run the Freedom Fighter’s Welfare Trust and welfare institutions, if they came to power but the fact remained that “freedom fighter officers and employees were fired from these institutions without any reason”. The function was also addressed, among others, by freedom fighters Mahbub Uddin, Bir Bikram.
