The inauguration of a training workshop of 30 officials of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) was held on Sunday at its auditorium in the city’s Karwanbazar. State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki was present as the chief guest. While speaking Chumki said the government will impart training to some 61,800 parents as part of raising awareness among the parents for promoting sound health of the children. “Since 80 per cent growth of the children is completed within the period from zero to five years old …so the parents should be aware of their children during pregnancy,” she added. Chumki said “If we want to realize the dream of building prosperous Bangladesh then the parents should have to take care of their children from the early stage of pregnancy.” The function was addressed, among others, by BKMEA President AKM Selim Osman MP, Women and Children Affairs Secretary Nasima Begum, Vice-Chairman of Suchana Foundation Prof Pran Gopal Datta and Additional Secretary of Women and Children Affairs Ministry Mahmuda Sharmin Benu. The event was moderated by Deputy Secretary of the Women and Children Affairs Ministry Begum Rayna Ahmed.
