Bangabandhu Parishad
A discussion on ‘Foreign Policy of Bangladesh and India-Bangladesh Relations’ organised by Bangabandhu Parishad was held in CIRDAP auditorium in the city’s Topkhana Road on Friday. Science and Technology Minister Architect Yafes Osman was present in the programme as the chief guest. While speaking Yafes urged all to prevent ill efforts of BNP-Jamaat for continuing development process in the country. BNP is misguiding the people in the name of “Vision 2030” as the party has resorted to conspiracy to undermine development efforts of the country, he added. Yafes said, ‘Relations between Bangladesh and India are better than any time in the past. Both two countries should maintain friendly relations for ensuring further progress.’ The function was addressed, among others, by Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Director General of International Mother Language Institute (IMLI) Prof Dr Zinnat Imtiaz Ali, Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University Prof Dr Md Fayequzzaman and former Ambassador Atiqur Rahman. General Secretary of the parishad Dr SA Maleq presided over the function.
Muktijoddha Supreme Command Council
Leaders of Muktijoddha Supreme Command Council described as “hollow” the pledges made in BNP’s recently released Vision 2030 calling it an attempt to mislead the nation since most of the initiatives promised in the document was taken by now by the incumbent government. “They (BNP) made an effort to mislead the nation making a gimmick with some cheap and hollow promises for the freedom fighters in their Vision 2030,” Convener of the council Rashidul Islam on the 18th instant told a media briefing at the Jatiya Press Club.Reading out a written statement in presence of several other leaders of the Council Islam added “the facilities which have been promised in BNP’s Vision 2030, has already been implemented by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government”. He said the BNP pledged to appoint freedom fighters to run the Freedom Fighter’s Welfare Trust and welfare institutions, if they came to power but the fact remained that “freedom fighter officers and employees were fired from these institutions without any reason”. The function was also addressed, among others, by freedom fighters Mahbub Uddin, Bir Bikram, former Chairman of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Kendriya Command Council Principal Abdul Ahad Chowdhury, KM Farhad Hossain, Mohammad Abdul Haque, Altab Hossain Mollah, Salauddin and Minhaj Uddin.
