Diabetic Association of Bangladesh
12 nurses working in different hospitals were given Mahbub-Uz-Zaman Award-2017 at a ceremony organised by Diabetic Association of Bangladesh in BIRDEM auditorium in the city’s Shahbagh on Saturday. Noted lawyer and also Vice-President of the association Barrister Rafiqul Huq was present as the chief guest. The programme was addressed, among others, by Secretary General of the association Mohammad Saif Uddin, Director General of BIRDEM Prof Nazmun Nahar, award introducer and Member of the National Council of the association Mahbub-Uz-Zaman. Vice-President of the association Major General Prof AR Khan (Retd) presided over the function.
Sheikh Russel Shishu Kishor Sangsad
A discussion marking the 8th death anniversary of noted nuclear scientist Dr M A Wazed Miah, husband of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina organised by Sheikh Russel Shishu Kishor Sangsad was held at Shishu Kalyan Parishad Auditorium in the city’s Topkhana Road on Friday. Food Minister Advocate Qamrul Islam was present as the chief guest. While speaking Qamrul said the “Vision-2030” declared by BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is a platform for taking part in the next parliamentary election.The minister recalled the contributions of late Wazed Miah. Qamrul said, “People now think about country’s development and they know that country’s uplift activities will not advance without Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina”. Terming Khaleda Zia’s ‘Vision-2030’ is a bluff as well as farcical; the minister said such activities would not help BNP to reach to the mass people. He said “Our target is to become a middle income country by 2021 and developed country by 2041.” The function was also addressed, among others, by Dhaka City South unit Awami League (AL) General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad and General Secretary of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Arun Sarker Rana. Advisor of the organisation Prof Dr Hossain Mansur presided over the programme.
