Bangabandhu Gabeshana Parishad
A discussion on the 8th death anniversary of noted nuclear scientist and husband of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Dr. MA Wazed Miah organised by Bangabandhu Gabeshana Parishad was held at Red Chilli Chinese Restaurant in the city’s Topkhana Road. In the programme the speakers said late Wazed Miah worked life-long for the welfare of the people. He played a pioneering role for the preservation of the ideology of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and also perception of the glorious Liberation War. They urged all to build up the new generation with the ideology of Wazed Miah. Dr Wazed will remain alive among all as a bright star, the speakers added. The function was addressed, among others, by President of the organisation Lion Mohammad Gani Mia Babul, Vice-President of the parishad Nurul Islam Talukder, its Publicity Secretary Advocate Khan Chamon-e-Elahi, Library Secretary Kamal Hossain Khan and its Executive Member Masud Alam. A Doa Mahfil was also held on the occasion. The participants in the event prayed for the eternal peace of Dr Wazed. Lion Gani Mia Babul conducted the Doa Mahfil.
World Vision Bangladesh
A discussion on ‘Achievement of SDGs Target’ jointly organised by World Vision Bangladesh and National Human Rirghts Commission (NHRC) was held at the conference room of Khulna Deputy Commissioner on the 9th instant. NHRC Chairman Kazi Reazul Hoque was present as the chief guest. While speaking Reazul said, government and non-government partnership can achieve the target of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). “NHRC is working with the government and Bangladesh has already achieved most of the target out of 8 Millennium Development Goals (MDGs),” he said. He said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has received many international awards for achieving MDGs. The Prime Minister is very hopeful to achieve SDGs also in time and government had already taken various schemes to fulfill it. He hoped that Bangladesh will turn into a middle income country as well as Sonar Bangla dreamt by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by 2021 through combine participation of all. Deputy Director of World Vision Sabira Sultana Nupur presented the key note paper. The programme was also addressed, among others, by Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University (KU) Dr. Md. Fayequzzaman and Director of Bangladesh World Vision Chandan Z Gomez.
