Bangladesh Nou-Jan Sramik Federation
A rally organised by Bangladesh Nou-Jan Sramik Federation was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Saturday. In the programme the leaders of the organisation demanded immediate unconditional release of 16 vessel labourers who are languishing in jails in Bangladesh and India. They also demanded to run 40 oil tankers which were stopped to ply illegally and fabricatedly. The leaders of the federation also demanded for the payment of salary and other allowances of the labourers according to the gazette. The function was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of the federation Chowdhury Ashikul Alam, its Office Secretary Prokash Dutta, leaders of the organisation Nabi Alam Master, Prodeep Kumar Chowdhury, Khurshid Alam, Afsar Hossain Chowdhury, Habibullah Bahar and Firoj Ahmed. The leaders called upon all the activists of the federation to be united to forge greater movement to meet their demands. A big procession paraded different streets of the city in favour of their demands. President of the organisation Mohammad Shah Alam Bhuiyan presided over the event.
Awami Muktijoddha Prajanmo League
A discussion against drug and militancy organised by Awami Muktijoddha Prajanmo League, Rangpur district unit was held at Kamal Kachhna area in Rangpur recently. In the programme the speakers said that resisting drug aggression and eliminating militancy have become imperative at the present time for saving the young generations and continuing smooth development to build a prosperous nation. The speakers discussed about the importance on creating public awareness against these social menaces for building a society free from the drug, militancy and terrorism. They said the young generations and society must be saved from wrath of drug abuse and militancy removing all barriers for their normal growth and flourishing. The speakers also discussed about the grievous impacts of drug abuse and militancy and put talents in becoming worthy citizens to lead the nation in future. They said every conscious citizen should come forward in sensitising the young generations as well as parents about catastrophic consequences of generation-killer drug aggression and militancy. The programme was addressed, among others, by Mayor of Rangpur Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu, Vice-President of district Awami League Advocate Elias Ahmed, Joint Secretary Shahinur Rahman Sohel and General Secretary of the organisation SNM Chandan.
